Charles Russell Speechlys advises Qareeb Data Centres on partnership to deliver Bahrain’s first edge data centre

Charles Russell Speechlys advised Qareeb Data Centres, a leading Middle East-based edge data centre operator, on its landmark strategic partnership with Batelco by Beyon, Bahrain’s largest telecommunications company, to develop Bahrain’s first-ever edge data centre.

Under the strategic partnership agreement, Qareeb will manage and operate its first edge data centre through a long-term lease of Batelco’s new facility. This enables Qareeb to deliver sovereign, low-latency and AI-ready co-location services for enterprises, cloud providers and digital platforms across the GCC.

Located within Beyon’s Data Oasis in Southern Bahrain, the data centre offers 6000 sqm of scalable space for enterprises and hyperscalers seeking advanced hosting and connectivity solutions. This partnership represents a major step in enhancing the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and supporting its fast‑growing cloud and data ecosystem.

Charles Russell Speechlys advised Qareeb Data Centres on the long‑term development lease for the edge data centre site in Bahrain, and led on all legal negotiations with Beyon, ensuring the commercial and operational framework for the venture was robust, future‑proof and aligned with both parties’ strategic objectives.

The Charles Russell Speechlys team advising Qareeb Data Centres was led by legal director Reem Al Mahroos (Manama, Real Estate), partners Mark Bailey (London, Commercial) and Gareth Mills (Manama/Guildford, Dispute Resolution), senior associate Jonathan Fisher (Manama, Corporate), with support from associate Dana Marshad (Manama, Construction, Engineering & Projects), trainee solicitor Zahra Toorani (Manama, Dispute Resolution) and paralegal Tariq Kioumji (Manama, Construction, Engineering & Projects).
